(just an angsty teen song written in 2009)

I'm living out of my travel bag,
my suitcase is still packed.
Lying out at night under these foreign stars
I wonder how you are.

I guess it'll cross my mind every once in a while,
but home is where I am now
and I miss your town.

Nothing but pine trees and memories
and deep dazzling rays of the sun--
they come around, and when they go
galleries of stars,
Venus, Saturn, Mars,
spill away, spill away Milky Way.

Still-lifes and portraits,
their vain tuppence of wealth--
pretentious and preening, and
sickly careening their overalls
into overhauls.

Sidewalk's cracked,
Mother broke her back,
ain't nothing here for me anyhow.
I should have taken that bow
when I was ahead,
don't drag me down again.

Undoubtedly fetching,
too much of their dredgings
come up to haunt our waking lives.
Like serpents they slither
as streets slowly wither away.

Get away quick as you can
while you're still free.
But home is where I am now
and I hate this town.
